About the breed
Bred by nature, not by inputs.
The Nguni is the indigenous cattle of southern Africa — a Sanga-type breed developed over centuries of natural selection on open, unforgiving country. The result is a smaller, efficient animal that thrives where others struggle.
Incredibly tough and resilient. Nguni are renowned for heat tolerance, tick and disease resistance, and the ability to do well on poor grazing — meaning far less reliance on harsh chemical inputs, drenches and intervention.
Made for the Australian climate. Much of Australia mirrors the African landscape the Nguni evolved in. That makes it a genuinely "fit for purpose" animal — comfortable in the heat, sure on its feet, and a selective, efficient forager.
A homesteader's and regenerative farmer's breed. Easy calving, strong mothering instincts, excellent fertility and real longevity make Nguni ideal for low-input, organic and regenerative systems where the land does the work.

Nguni created the ability for us to run our cattle chemical free in a high parasite environment. They do well on low protein feed and finish on a grass only diet. Nguni have high fertility, easy calving and good temperaments. The many colors are the wonderful biodiversity that we love. For our paddock to plate business they are perfect. Henham Nguni
After raising Nguni in South Africa since 19xx my family made the move to Australia and we knew that we would have to bring our Nguni with us. We brought embryos over and after a successful embryo program in 20XX we establish our purebred Nguni herd. Nguni are unparalled in disease and parasite resistance and have fantastic maternal traits.

What farmers are saying.
Real experiences from the people running Nguni on Australian soil. Got a story? We'd love to feature it.
Add a testimonial here — a few honest sentences from a farmer about how the breed has performed for them.
Another space for a testimonial. Quotes about hardiness, calving ease or running costs work really well here.
And a third. Replace these with the words of farmers and homesteaders using Nguni across Australia.
